Javien Ortega has cystic fibrosis and so do two of his siblings. Perhaps Javien’s family members have taught him a thing or two about handling CF, because Javien possesses exemplary attitude; when asked what it’s like to have CF, he said that “it’s easy”. With his Faith, supportive family, and a strong CF care team, one can see where he might find his strong sense of optimism.
Having seen these qualities, Javien’s CF care team nominated him for a wish from the Take A Breather Foundation. For his breather, he chose to travel to Disney World with his family. There, he saw Batman, Spiderman, and Moana and had a great time with his family. Javien’s mother wrote, “Thank you so much for allowing Javien’s trip to Florida to be awesome!!! We enjoyed our stay at the Give Kids The World Village and also spent some good exciting time at Disney world, where dreams did come true […] These past few years have been a roller coaster ride for our family, but we are thankful that we were able to take a breather from it all!!!”
When asked how he would help a child with cystic fibrosis, Javien wrote: “help them to believe that they will always be okay, and that they can do whatever they want. I will pray for them every day. I want them to stay strong and active.”
